Frequently Asked Questions

Stress is an inevitable part of everyday life, both outside and within our homes. Difficulties at work, conflict with someone we care about, loneliness, or concerns that have accumulated over time can affect us deeply. They may lead to sleepless nights, anxiety, low mood, difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly, and changes in behavior.

When these difficulties become persistent or more severe, they may interfere with everyday life, affect relationships with loved ones, impact work or other responsibilities, and ultimately reduce quality of life. Mental health difficulties are often not visible to others. At such times, a comfortable and supportive environment and a qualified professional who listens, assesses, advises, and provides appropriate treatment—without stigma and with respect for confidentiality—can provide valuable support.

Seeking professional help early may help prevent symptoms from worsening and contribute to better treatment outcomes.

Your First Psychiatric Appointment

The first step is usually a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. During your first appointment with a psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, when and how they developed, and how they are currently affecting your life.

The psychiatrist may ask about your personal and family history, when your symptoms began, their severity and progression, previous mental health difficulties or treatment, and any other medical conditions you may have.

Depending on your individual needs, you may be asked to complete specific questionnaires or standardized assessment tools. When clinically indicated, a physical examination, laboratory tests, or diagnostic imaging may also be recommended to identify or exclude medical conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms.

The information gathered during the assessment helps your psychiatrist develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Why Are Follow-Up Appointments Important?

Follow-up appointments are often an essential part of psychiatric treatment. They allow your psychiatrist to assess your progress, evaluate how well the treatment is working, monitor for potential side effects, and make adjustments when necessary.

Some psychiatric medications require time to reach their full therapeutic effect, and dosages may need to be adjusted gradually. Individual responses to medication can also vary. Regular follow-up therefore helps ensure that your treatment remains appropriate, safe, and tailored to your clinical needs.

Our goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where we can work together to achieve your treatment goals and support your mental health and well-being.
